Warriors´ Curry finds slump talk ´comical´

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry has laughed off talk he is in a slump this season.

Curry became the NBA’s first unanimous MVP last season, winning the award for the second consecutive campaign.

The 2015-16 season saw Curry lead the league in points per game with 30.1, while he also joined the prestigious 50-40-90 club as he shot over 50 per cent from the field, over 40 per cent from the three-point line and hit just above 90 per cent of his free throws.

His stunning performances helped the Warriors to the best regular-season record of all time as they went 73-9 before losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals.

With the addition of 2014 MVP Kevin Durant, Curry’s numbers have declined this term. He is averaging 24.8 points per game and his field goal and three-point percentages have also fallen off slightly, though his free-throw percentage has improved from .908 to .932.

But asked about talk of a slump, he told ESPN: “That is the one that’s most comical, because if you look at the numbers at that point, in the politest way, I’ll take those slump numbers any day of the week.”
