Yira Sor nets on full debut, named MOTM in Genk win

Former Flying Eagles star Collins Yira Sor scored his first goal for KRC Genk in their narrow win over Zulte Waregem as they strengthened their grip on top spot in the Belgian Jupiler League. The speedy winger scored to hand his side all three points from their Matchday 20 clash.

Having moved from Slavia Prague to Genk at the start of the winter, the young forward was handed a starting role for the Belgian side for the first time. He had made his debut in the win over Club Brugge two weeks ago.

Yira Sor scored the game’s only goal after only ten minutes, showing exactly why Genk were willing to snap him up from Slavia. The 22-year-old picked up the ball on the right wing before beating two players after cutting inside. He then smashed an effort in with his weaker left foot via the crossbar. He became the fastest player to score on his full debut in the Belgian Jupiler League since 2008.

Paul Onuachu was a second-half sub for Genk, replacing his compatriot and goalscorer after 72 minutes. The league leaders held on to win the game by a lone goal and open up a ten-point gap over Victor Boniface‘s Union Saint-Gilloise.
