Zenit 1 Villarreal 3: Samuel Chukwueze torments as Yellow Submarines end Lions unbetean run

Super Eagles attacker Samuel Chukwueze returned to Villarreal starting line up in Yellow Submarines 3-1 win against Zenit St. Petersburg in their Europa League round 16 first leg at the Gazprom Arena on Thursday.

Samuel Chukwueze who was omitted by Super Eagles handler for the games against Seychelles and Egypt this March, played a key role as Villarreal secure an important away win.

Samuel Chukwueze was a thorn in the flesh of the Zenit defenders and as early as the 2nd minute he was fouled and required treatment.

He continued to make great runs, and movements they helped made life uneasy for the home team.

Vicente Iborra in the 33rd minutes put Villarreal in front but Sardar Azmoun equalized for Zenit St. Petersburg in the 35th minute of the game.

Gerard Moreno increased Villarreal tally in the 69th minute before Manu Morlane fired a low shot to the bottom corner in the 71st minute for the visitors third goal.

Samuel Chukwueze was on tne pitch till the end of the game.

Villarreal who are occupying the 18th position in the La Liga took an important 3-1 away to condemn Zenit to their first ever home loss since the start of the 201o Europa League.
