Zidane becomes 4th person to win Club World Cup/International Cup as a player & manager
Zidane’s Madrid recently beat Leo Beenhakker’s unbeaten run, now he and his Madrid side have gone a step further. Under the Italian manager Fabio Capello, Madrid started the 1996-1997 season with an unbeaten run stretching 25 games. Zizou equalled that with the semi-final win over América (18 victories and seven draws) and his team have gone now gone 26 games without defeat following their 4-2 win over Kashima Antlers today.
Zinedine Zidane, who was part of the Madrid side who beat Olimpia to lift the trophy in 2002, has also became the fourth person to win the Club World Cup/Intercontinental Cup both as a player and as a manger.
Others who have done so are Luis Cubilla (Olimpia), Juan Mujica(Nacional) and Carlo Ancelotti (AC Milan and Real Madrid)
