AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has sensationally declared he is still “God” and “number one” as he closes in on a return to football after nine months on the sidelines following ACL surgery.
When 41-year old Zlatan Ibrahimovic had surgery to repair his knee, there were fears he could be forced into retirement. But the big Swede has fought his way back and is confident the long layoff will not affect his performances.
Ibrahimovic this week returned to full training and could get his comeback in the Serie A on Friday evening or in mid-week when the UEFA Champions League knock-out round gets underway.
“I’m still God, I’m still number one. ” Zlatan Ibrahimovic told SPORT MEDIASET ahead of his return to action.
” Now let’s change the music when I get back. I really want to do many things, after what I have lost in these months. I wasted time. ”
“I’m fine, I’m very fine! I’ve returned to the group and I feel free, free on and off the pitch. It means I’m fine. In this period I’ve done everything to help the coach, staff and club from outside. I was patient because I had to come back at the top, the recovery is going according to plan.”
AC Milan have struggled for form since the turn of the year. The San Siro based outfit have won just once in 2023, a 1-2 win at Salernitana on January 4 but the experienced Ibrahimovic is not worried about the struggles.
” I’m not worried, these are normal moments within a championship. Now we need to talk little and demonstrate our value on the pitch.” the forward added.
AC Milan will host Torino on Friday Febuary 10 in the Serie A. Manager Stefano Pioli may hand Ibrahimovic some minutes or hang his comeback until the Champions League Round of 16 clash vs Tottenham Hotspur on February 14.
