Arsenal fans heartbroken as Nigerian-born talent Chido Obi-Martin joins Manchester United

Arsenal fans are reeling from the departure of their promising academy player, Nigerian-born Chido Obi-Martin, who is set to join Premier League rivals Manchester United.

The 16-year-old striker made a significant impact in the Arsenal academy, scoring 32 goals in just 18 appearances for the club’s PL2 team. Despite his impressive performance, Obi-Martin has opted for a move to Manchester United.

Arsenal offered the young striker a contract which he turned down in preference for a move to Manchester where has been promised first-team football.

Reports indicate that Obi-Martin’s decision was influenced by concerns over a clear path to the Arsenal first team, even though he had reportedly agreed to a new and improved contract with the North London club. Some sources suggest that financial considerations also played a role in his decision.

There was also interest from top German clubs, including Bayern Munich, but Obi-Martin chose to join Manchester United, believing they offer a better opportunity for his future involvement with the first team.

The departure of such a talented young player has left Arsenal fans disappointed and questioning the club’s ability to retain its rising stars.

Just recently, English midfielder Emile Smith Rowe who emeregd from the Hale End Academy saw his time at the Emirates, as he leaves for Fulham FC. Eddie Nketiah is another Arsenal Academy producted expected to leave in search of regular game-time.
