Nigerian players fail to make the headlines across Europe
It was a boring weekend for Nigerian players across Europe as the usual suspects failed to find the back of the net but John Ogu’s 2nd goal of the season for Hapoel Beersheba made the headlines.
Most of them remain important players for their clubs but could do nothing to help change the fortune of their clubs this week.
Isaac Success (Granada)
Success caused Madrid defenders all sort of problems, his direct run and foot works worked for him, he played for the entire duration as his side lost to Real Madrid but the Nigerian gave a very good account of himself and showed why he is an important first team player for Granada.
He could have put his team ahead when he was played one on one with Keylor Navas but his first touch and decision let him down.
Ogenyi Onazi (Lazio)
He could do little as Lazio lost at home to the League leaders on Wednesday but on Saturday he wasn’t even on the bench as his club played a goalless draw with Genoa

Godfrey has now played 19 times Rizespor out of 20 games as they continue their chase for a spot in the European competition.
John Chibuike (Gaziantespor)
John could do little in his creative position as his side crumbled to Besiktas. He was on the pitch for the entire match, Gaziantespor were beaten 4-0 by Besiktas.
Ugo Ukah (Kalloni)

Ideye was on the pitch through out the game as his club beat Paok 1-0. They were reduces to 10-man with 20 minutes to go but they hung on to their lead and extended their gap at the top to 19 points,
The former West Brom player is having a good time at Olympiakos scoring 7 goals in 18 League appearances for the Greece Super League run away leaders.
Vincent Enyema (Lille)
It would have been another clean sheet for Vincent but 89minute penalty converted by Dembèlé denied him the clean sheet. In all Vincent should be proud of his display as he continue to impress for his struggling club.
Lille 1-1 Rennes it ended. Lille are currently 15th on the Lique 1 table.
Chidozie Awaziem (Porto)
The 19–year–old defender was an unused sub as Porto shockingly lost 1-2 to Arouca at Estádio Do Dragão.

The Nigerian midfielder was on the pitch for the entire match as his side narrowly defeated Mouscron-Peruwelz 1-0 away from home. Ndidi 19, has played 21 times for his club so far this season, he is an important player for Genk.
Michael Olaitan (Kortrijk)
Olaitan continues to struggle has he was substituted on 56 minute in his side’s 1-1 draw at home to Westerlo. The Nigerian striker is yet to find the back of the net since he joined Kortijk from Twente.
Joseph Akpala (Oostende)
Joseph was on the pitch for 85 minute as Oostende won away from home, he couldn’t add to his goal tally but was instrumental to his team’s success at Daknamstadion.
Godwin Saviour who also Oostende player was an unused sub yet again.
Simon Moses (Gent)
Simon played for 71 minute but his wonderful display and that of his team-mates couldn’t stop Club Brugge from taking the table topping clash. They lost 1-0 to Club Brugge and both teams are joint top on the Belgium Pro League.
Anthony Ujah (Werder Bremen)
Ujah was on the picth for 51 minute as Werder Bremen lost Borussia Mönchengladbach at Stadion im BORUSSIA-PARK, it ended Borussia Mönchengladbach 5-1 Werder Bremen.
John Ogu (Hapoel Beersheba)

Hapoel Beersheba moved six points clear at the top of the Premier League standings on Saturday night, beating Maccabi Netanya 2-0 at Turner Stadium for its 15th win from the past 17 matches.
John Ogu’s rocket from 20 meters out in the 67th minute after Elyaniv Barda’s opener on the stroke of halftime extended Beersheba’s unbeaten streak to 17 matches, stretching back to late September.
It was the 27 year old’s second goal of the season.
Hopefully next week would be better for them and they’ll get back to scoring goals.
