1995-96 Bulls the greatest NBA team not Curry’s Warriors – Scottie Pippen

The 1995-96 Chicago Bulls kept their legacy as the greatest team in NBA history after the Golden State Warriors lost in the Finals, according to former star Scottie Pippen.

After breaking the Bulls’ 20-year-old regular-season wins record with 73 victories, the Warriors failed in their attempt for back-to-back NBA championships, surrendering a 3-1 lead as the Cleveland Cavaliers triumphed.

And one man somewhat happy about Golden State’s loss was Pippen – a six-time NBA champion with the Bulls, who defeated the Seattle Supersonics in the 95-96 Finals after entering the play-offs with an historic 72-10 record.

“The 1995-96 Bulls,” the 50-year-old All-Star told ESPN. “We live on.”

Having already claimed Michael Jordan’s 95-96 Bulls would sweep the Warriors in a seven-game series, Pippen added: “We had done so well and now we’re faced with the same thing that the Warriors were faced with. Can this team be considered one of the greatest teams? Well, you can’t be considered a great team until you win a championship.

“No matter how well you do in the regular season, it has to be capped off with a championship, to really mark your legacy in the game. That’s where we see Golden State had some failure there. They lost their dominance throughout the play-offs.”

Former Bulls team-mate Dennis Rodman shared a similar view to Pippen, writing via Twitter: “Congrats @cavs for winning @NBA title. @warriors u had a great regular season. But the greatest team of all time is the 95-96 @chicagobulls.”
