Turkish government issue warrant of arrest for Hakan Sukur

The Turkish government issued a warrant of arrest for Inter, Blackburn and Parma veteran striker Hakan Sukur.

The former footballer spent one season with the Nerazzurri and one for the Crociati in the early 2000s, and enjoys an iconic reputation among fans in his country.

Having been involved with the Justice and Development Party following his retirement from football, Sukur is being affected by the political turmoil in his home country.

The Turkish Press reports that an arrest warrant has been issued for the 44-year-old, on suspicion of having been involved in the recent coup. Sukur is believed to be seeking asylum abroad.
