Curry leads Warriors past Nuggets, Pelicans earn first win
Stephen Curry showed why he is the two-time reigning NBA MVP with a star performance in the Golden State Warriors’ win over the Denver Nuggets, while the New Orleans Pelicans opened their account.
Curry scored 33 points to lead the Warriors past the Nuggets 125-101 in Denver on Thursday.
After eight losses to open the season, the Pelicans trumped the Milwaukee Bucks 112-106.
Dwyane Wade got the better of his former team the Miami Heat as the Chicago Bulls prevailed 98-95.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers recorded a 101-91 win over the Sacramento Kings.
DURANT’S STREAK ENDS
Kevin Durant had gone 72 regular-season games with at 20 points.
But that all changed in the Warriors’ win over the Nuggets as he finished with 18.
WADE ENJOYS HAPPY RETURN TO MIAMI
The three-time NBA champion left the Heat for the Bulls in the off-season and he not only received a warm welcome in Miami, he left with the win.
Wade posted 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Jimmy Butler led the way with 20 points, while Rajon Rondo had 16 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double.
PELICANS WIN… FINALLY!
Having suffered defeat after defeat this season, the Pelicans and their fans had something to cheer about on Thursday.
Anthony Davis came up big for the Pelicans, nailing a pair of free throws with 12 seconds remaining to ensure New Orleans opened their account.
E’Twaun Moore (20 points), Tim Frazier (15 points, 10 assists) and Terrence Jones (10) were also in double-digits for the Pelicans.
Jabari Parker put up 33 points for the beaten Bucks.
