Djokovic proud of his 2015 masterstokes

Novak Djokovic spoke of his pride after ending the best season of his career by beating Roger Federer to become the first player to win the ATP World Tour Finals four times in a row.

The world number one suffered his first indoor defeat in three years against Federer at theĀ O2 Arena on Tuesday, but gained revenge when it really mattered five days later.

Djokovic won Sunday’s showdown in LondonĀ 6-3 6-4 to be crowned champion in the season-ending tournament for a fifth time.

The 28-year-old has won 11 titles in 2015 – including three grand slams – and was delighted to end a stellar year on such a high note.

“I’m obviously very proud to have these achievements with my team,” he said.

“It’s been a long season, but the best of my life. Without their support and my family, I wouldn’t be where I am. I’m just trying to cherish every moment at this level.

“As a kid growing up, you dream to be at tournaments like this and fighting for the biggest trophies in sport.”

Federer wasĀ magnanimous in defeat a year after pulling out of the final against the Serb due to a back injury.

“It is never fun on the not winning side, it is better than not playing at all like last year.” said the world number three.

“This week was great, there were some crazy points tonight, but like plenty of times this year Novak deserved it.”
