Paul Onuachu Nets Twice in Trabzonspor’s 3-1 Win Over Kayserispor

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu scored two goals as Trabzonspor defeated Kayserispor 3–1 in a Turkish Super Lig match played on Monday at the Kadir Has Stadium.

Onuachu has been in excellent form this season. Before the match, he had already scored 18 goals in 21 league appearances, making him the top scorer in the competition.

Trabzonspor went into the game as strong favourites after winning eight of their last ten matches in all competitions. Kayserispor, on the other hand, had been struggling, with only one victory in their previous seven games.

The home side’s problems began early in the match when Dorukhan Tokoz received a straight red card in the eighth minute, leaving Kayserispor with ten men.

Trabzonspor quickly took control of the match. Onuachu missed a few early chances but finally opened the scoring just before half-time.

Early in the second half, the Nigerian striker used his height well to head home a cross from Wagner Pina and give his team a 1–0 lead.

A few minutes later, Trabzonspor doubled their advantage after a handball in the penalty area. Onuachu stepped up and calmly scored from the penalty spot to make it 2–0.

Trabzonspor continued their strong start to the second half and scored again in the 53rd minute. Oleksandr Zubkov’s shot hit the crossbar, bounced off goalkeeper Bilal Bayazit and rolled into the net for the third goal.

With a comfortable lead, Trabzonspor slowed the pace of the game and focused on keeping possession.

Later in the match, the coach brought on Nigerian players Chibuike Nwaiwu and Anthony Nwakaeme as substitutes.

Kayserispor managed to score a late consolation goal in the 83rd minute through German Onugkha, but it was not enough to change the result as the match ended 3–1.

The victory keeps Trabzonspor in third place in the league table, behind Fenerbahce and leaders Galatasaray.
