Lauren James signs new Chelsea deal until 2030
Lauren James has committed her long-term future to Chelsea F.C. Women after signing a new contract that will keep her at the club until June 2030.
The England international has become one of Chelsea’s most important attacking players since returning to the club from Manchester United Women in the 2021/22 season. Her new deal ensures she will remain in west London for several more years as the club continues to build around its core players.
James began her football journey in Chelsea’s academy, playing for the club’s youth teams before continuing her development elsewhere. Since returning, she has grown into one of the standout forwards in English women’s football.
The 22-year-old has made more than 100 appearances for Chelsea and scored 31 goals.

During that period, she helped the club win four Women’s Super League titles, three Women’s FA Cup trophies, and the FA Women’s League Cup.
Speaking after signing the new contract, James expressed her happiness at continuing with the club where her journey began.
“I’m really happy and over the moon to have signed a new contract with Chelsea. It’s been my club since I was young, so I’m really pleased to have extended my stay here. I can’t wait to make more memories, hopefully have more success and win more trophies with this amazing club.”
James has collected several individual honours during her time at Chelsea, including the PFA Young Player of the Year, Women’s Super League Player of the Month awards and inclusion in the PFA WSL Team of the Year and FIFPRO Women’s World XI.
Despite facing injuries at different stages of her career, she has continued to return strongly and played a part in England’s triumph at UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
