Del Bosque: Spain are favourites Euro 2016

After watching his team thump South Korea 6-1 on Wednesday, Vicente del Bosque claimed that Spain are favourites to win Euro 2016.

Two goals for Nolito and Alvaro Morata in addition to strikes from David Silva and Cesc Fabregas helped dispatch Uli Stielike’s team with ease.

Del Bosque emphasized that previous European Championship triumphs in 2008 and 2012 means La Roja can head to France with plenty of confidence.

“We’re favourites [to win the European Championship] because we won the tournament four years ago,” the former Real Madrid coach said.

“There are other competitors but it’s our dream to be champions again.”

The 65-year-old also acknowledged that there has been progress in the squad and Spain are now heading in the right direction.

“We’ve improved recently, and I think we’re in good shape.

“We’ve had a very hard, very intense session [against South Korea], but we’re preparing to arrive [in France] in the best condition.”

Spain’s last remaining friendly before Euro 2016 is against Georgia on June 7.
