Ricciardo optimistic Red Bull has more to give
Daniel Ricciardo is confident his Red Bull can find more time to close the gap to Mercedes and Ferrari at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Ricciardo could only set the fourth fastest time in free practice two on Friday, with Nico Rosberg four tenths clear at the top.
Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen and Ricciardo’s team-mate Max Verstappen were also quicker than the Australian, but he believes there is more to come in FP3 and qualifying on Saturday.
“I am not discouraged by the pace,” he said. “Where we are is pretty good considering where I feel we can be with the car.
“There is still a lot more we can get out of it, so if we find that then we will be looking all right tomorrow.”
Verstappen – who was fastest in FP1 – was also pleased with his outings on day one of the race weekend in Singapore, and he believes the street circuit provides Red Bull with one of their best chances of victory this season.
“It was a positive day for us, maybe the second practice could have been a bit better but we are still more or less there,” said the Dutchman.
“On this track four tenths is nothing, if you find a little bit of a better balance you get more confidence in the car and you get the lap time.
“I think it’s definitely our best chance [to win]. After Monaco this is definitely the best track for us.”
