F1 Raceweek: Mercedes 21 points from glory – Japanese GP in numbers
Mercedes had one very unhappy driver on their hands in the wake of Lewis Hamilton’s forced retirement in Malaysia, but they are eyeing another constructors’ championship title at the Japanese Grand prix.
The glory will be theirs if Hamilton and standings leader Nico Rosberg can put on a strong showing at Suzuka, where they took first and second respectively in 2015.
Rosberg has a 23-point advantage over the reigning champion, but will harbour memories of having squandered pole position at this race last year.
21 – Mercedes will win the constructors’ title in Japan if their drivers earn 21 points.
100 – Hamilton clocked up his century of pole positions in Sepang, behind only Michael Schumacher (116).
3 – Sebastian Vettel has failed to finish three races in 2016, which is more DNFs than Fernando Alonso tallied in any of his five seasons with Ferrari.
