Bonucci’s apology even worse than his first racist remarks on Kean

Italy and Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci has issued an apology 24 hours after he made a racist remarks on his teammates Moise Kean.

19-year-old Moise Kean who was subject of racist abuse from Cagliari fans from the beginning of the match, scored a goal and celebrated by standing in front of the fans who abused him all day.

The gesture didn’t go well with Leonardo Bonucci who said his young teammate was 50% responsible for the racist remarks he was subjected to.

“Kean knows that when he scores a goal, he has to focus on celebrating with his teammates. He knows he could’ve done something differently too,” the defender told Sky Sport Italia after the game.

“There were racist jeers after the goal, Blaise heard it and was angered. I think the blame is 50-50, because Moise shouldn’t have done that and the Curva should not have reacted that way.

“We are professionals, we have to set the example and not provoke anyone,” said Bonucci after the game.

But after he was called out by fans and footballers, Leonardo Bonucci was forced to make a statement but his statement further proved he meant what he said initially.

“After 24 hours I want to clarify my feelings. Yesterday I was interviewed right at the end of the game, and my words have been clearly misunderstood, probably because I was too hasty in the way I expressed my thoughts.

“Hours and years wouldn’t be enough to talk about this topic. I firmly condemn all forms of racism and discrimination. The abuses are not acceptable at all and this must not be misunderstood.”
