Coach of South Korea U-20 team Kim Eun-joong has listed strong points of the Nigeria U-20 team ahead of their last-8 clash at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
South Korea defeated Ecuador 3-2 in the round of 16 clash on Thursday June 1 to set-up a quater-final meeting with Nigeria who took out tournament host Argentina the previous day.
Speaking after goals from Lee Young-jun, Bae Jun-ho and Choi Seok-hyun propelled his team to victory over Ecuador, South Korea Head Coach Kim Eun-joong admitted their next opponents are well prepared and possess three key qualities.
“When I watched the game against Argentina yesterday, the Nigerian team seemed to be very well prepared. Players in all positions are physically outstanding and have flexibility.
” We will do the analysis properly.” he told Chosun.
Nigeria are the only remaining African representatives left in the tournament same as South Korea who will fly Asia’s flag in the last-8.
As a result of this, the South Korea Head coach is looking forward to maximum support from the continent as they prepare to give their all vs Nigeria,
“I think the young players were able to give their all on the field because of the interest and support in the early hours every time.”
” We will prepare hard for the match against Nigeria, so please support us from afar. As an Asian team, Korea is the only team that maintains its pride, so I will prepare well for the next game and produce good results with a sense of responsibility and pride as an Asian representative.” he added.
Nigeria Vs Ecuador will faceoff in the quater-final on June 4. The winner of that match will face either Colombia or Italy in the semi-final of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
