Adeyemi Praises Barcelona Defence for Stopping Osimhen

Barcelona forward Karim Adeyemi has praised his team’s defence for limiting the impact of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen in their 4-1 Champions League victory over Galatasaray.
The two teams met at Rams Park in Istanbul on Tuesday, with Barcelona coming from behind to secure an impressive win in their second match of the competition.
Galatasaray took the lead through Aleksey Bakaratov, while Osimhen thought he had helped his team extend their advantage with a header. However, the goal was ruled out for offside against Baris Alper Yilmaz, who helped the ball into the net.
Barcelona fought back, with Joao Cancelo equalising before half-time. Fermin Lopez, Anthony Gordon and Adeyemi then scored to complete the comeback and give the Spanish side their second win in the competition.
Adeyemi, who came on as a substitute and scored six minutes later, praised Osimhen’s quality but said Barcelona’s defence did well to keep the Nigerian striker quiet.
Speaking exclusively to Soccernet.ng, the German forward said he was always happy to see Nigerian players perform on the big stage.
“It’s always nice to see Nigerian players on the big stage. I always feel happy for them, but I think our defence did a great job yesterday, and it was very hard for him to make any serious impact,” Adeyemi said.
The victory continued Barcelona’s impressive start to the season, with the club winning their opening two Champions League matches and scoring nine goals.
Adeyemi also praised the winning mentality within the Barcelona squad, saying the players were determined to compete for every available trophy.
“You see how we play, with a winning mentality, and our performance shows we want to win everything. You see this in every match. No retreat. No surrender,” he added.
Barcelona will next face reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain on October 20 as they look to maintain their strong start to the Champions League campaign.
