AFCON 2021: Algeria trash Ghana to fire warning to Nigeria and Senegal
Algeria have sent a strong warning to Nigeria, Senegal, Egypt and other rivals after a their convincing win against Ghana in a friendly game on Wednesday.
The Desert Foxes of Algeria who defeated the Super Eagles in the semifinal en-route their triumph in 2019 sent out strong warning after their 3-0 win against the Black Stars at the Education City Stadium in Qatar.
Goals from Napoli winger Adam Ounas gave the Algerians a first-half lead before an own goal from Jonathan Mensah and Islam Slimani’s strike ensured the African and Arab champions head to AFCON with a confidence-boosting victory.
The win is not just a confidence-boasting win for the defending champions but a strong message to rivals such as Nigeria, Egypt, Senegal who are eyeing their title.
Host nation Cameroun will kick start the tournament this Sunday with a clash against Burkina Faso.
Nigeria will be in action against Egypt on Tuesday.
