Akwa United Midfielder Ndifreke John Pledges Support for Young Talent in Eket

Akwa United midfielder Ndifreke John has pledged to support a young football talent he discovered in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, during the team’s preparations for the 2026/2027 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
Ndifreke John, popularly known as Aspire, wears the number 10 jersey for the Promise Keepers. He made the commitment on Tuesday, October 20, after watching the young player in a friendly match while his team prepared for training.
The midfielder said he was impressed by the youngster’s confidence, determination, skills and ability to play with his left foot.

The encounter reminded Aspire of his own journey in football, explaining that someone once spotted him playing on the streets, believed in his talent and helped him develop into the player he is today.
Inspired by that experience, the Akwa United star said he had decided to play a similar role in the young player’s life by following his progress, supporting his development and helping him achieve his football dreams.
Aspire said his greatest joy would be to see the youngster become a professional footballer and achieve even greater success than he has attained in his own career.
He expressed hope that God would give him the opportunity and resources to contribute meaningfully to the boy’s journey.
According to the midfielder, the experience was a reminder that young talents need opportunities, guidance and people who believe in their abilities.
Aspire, who is currently with Akwa United in Eket for a closed-door camping exercise, concluded by celebrating the wealth of football talent in the area.
“Eket is blessed with talents!” he said.
