Ansu Fati the Only Barcelona Player at Ronald Araujo’s Emotional Wedding
Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has married his long-time partner, Abigail Oliveira, in a beautiful ceremony held in Uruguay. The couple, who have been together for several years and share two daughters, Aitana and Adara, finally tied the knot surrounded by family and friends.
Although several footballers congratulated Araujo online, only one current Barcelona teammate, Ansu Fati, was present at the wedding. Most of the other players were away on holiday and sent their best wishes via social media.
German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen commented “many congratulations,” while Uruguay teammate and Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte replied “of course!” Others who shared their joy under Araujo’s wedding post included former Barcelona player Riqui Puig, Gerard Martin, Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez, and Ferran Torres, who simply wrote, “Congratulations, brother.”
The usually tough Araujo showed a more emotional side during the wedding, even shedding tears at the ceremony. He later shared pictures on Instagram with the caption “Just married.”
Araujo is coming off a season in which Barcelona won La Liga and the Copa del Rey and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League. However, his individual season was less successful, with limited playing time under new coach Hansi Flick, who preferred other defenders like Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez.
Though he signed a new contract with Barcelona until June 2031 after almost leaving in January, his future at the club remains uncertain. If another team activates his €65 million release clause, Araujo could be on the move this summer as he looks for more regular playing time ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
