Arsenal Maintain Perfect Champions League Run With 3–1 Win Over Bayern Munich

Arsenal continued their impressive Champions League form on Wednesday night with a 3–1 victory over Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium. The win keeps the Gunners perfect in this season’s competition and lifts them to the top of the league-phase table.

The match started slowly, but Arsenal broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute when Jurrien Timber headed in Bukayo Saka’s corner. Manuel Neuer misjudged the flight of the ball, leaving Timber free to guide it home.

Bayern responded quickly and found their equaliser in the 32nd minute. Joshua Kimmich sent a long diagonal pass to Serge Gnabry, who laid it off neatly for 17-year-old Lennart Karl. The teenager finished calmly, giving Bayern hope and silencing the home crowd momentarily.

Arsenal returned from the break with higher intensity and spent much of the second half pressing the German champions back. Neuer denied Saka, Declan Rice and Cristhian Mosquera, but the pressure eventually told. With just over 20 minutes left, Dayot Upamecano’s loose pass allowed Riccardo Calafiori to deliver a cross that substitute Noni Madueke turned into the net.

Moments later, Bayern suffered another setback. Eberechi Eze sent a long ball over the top, and Gabriel Martinelli capitalised on Neuer’s error outside the box. His first touch took him around the goalkeeper, and he calmly finished into an empty net to seal the result.

Arsenal fans revelled in the moment, with chants aimed at Bayern forward and former Tottenham star Harry Kane. Both sides, however, remain on course to reach the top eight, which guarantees automatic qualification to the last 16.
