Atletico Madrid join Chinese Super League clubs in the race to sign Manchester United’s Juan Mata

Atletico Madrid are reportedly planning to open talks with Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata regarding a summer transfer.

It was recently reported that Mata would be one of the players sold should Jose Mourinho take over at Old Trafford at the end of the season.

A handful of Chinese Super League clubs are believed to be interested in the 27-year-old, but according toFichajes.net, a move to Atletico could be on the cards.

The report adds that the La Liga side are confident of sealing a deal, but nothing has yet been agreed between the parties.

Mata joined United from Chelsea for a £37.1m fee in January 2014.
