Beckham and Gary Neville Lead New Ownership of Salford City
Former Manchester United players David Beckham and Gary Neville have taken full control of League Two club Salford City.
The pair were already part-owners of the club along with their former United teammates Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, and Phil Neville.
However, in this new deal, US businessman Declan Kelly and Mervyn Davies, the chairman of Britain’s Lawn Tennis Association, have joined the ownership group.
Butt, Giggs, Scholes, and Phil Neville are no longer shareholders, but they will still be involved in other roles at the club.
“Football will always come first, but it’s important we make the club sustainable over the next four to five years,” said Gary Neville.
“I’m excited for the next part of this journey.”
Beckham, who also owns MLS team Inter Miami, said: “Salford City is at the heart of the community. It has a proud history and I’m happy to be part of its future.”
