Blessed Stars Football Academy kicks off Nationwide League screening for debut season

Blessed Stars Football Academy, renowned for its track record of producing Nigerian youth internationals such as Charles Etim and Peter Asuquo, will officially commence its screening exercise to select players for the upcoming 2023/2024 Nigeria Nationwide League ONE season.

This marks the debut season for Blessed Stars in league football, and the academy is determined to build a formidable team to compete at the national level.

The screening exercise, scheduled to take place from Tuesday, January 9, 2024, to January 23, will be held at the football field of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Complex in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, starting at 2 pm daily.

Players from different states across the federation have already arrived in Uyo to participate in the rigorous selection process.

Team Manager of Blessed Stars, Nsikakabasi Akpan, shared his excitement about the transition from grassroots football to league competition and emphasized the academy’s commitment to securing the best talents for the season.

“As we prepare to transition from grassroots to league football this season, we have set up modalities to ensure we get the best legs who will carry our objective of achieving great on-field success this year,” Akpan remarked in his statement to SportsRation.

The screening exercise is expected to be highly competitive, with aspiring players showcasing their skills and talents in the hope of earning a spot on the Blessed Stars roster.

The academy’s dedication to nurturing young talents and providing a platform for them to excel in the national league reflects its commitment to football development at both the grassroots and professional levels.

The debut season in the Nigeria Nationwide League ONE holds great promise for Blessed Stars Football Academy, and the screening process will play a crucial role in shaping the team that will represent the academy when hostilities begin in Nigeria’s third tier of league football.
