CAF Confirms Date for 2025 Awards Ceremony in Morocco

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony will take place in Rabat, Morocco, on Wednesday, 19 November, starting at 7:00 p.m. local time (18:00 GMT).
The prestigious event will once again celebrate the best of African football, honouring players, coaches, and teams who have excelled for both club and country over the past year.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe, alongside top football officials from across the continent, is expected to attend the ceremony. It will be the third consecutive year Morocco hosts the glamorous awards night.
Nigeria will be strongly represented among the nominees, with several stars shortlisted across different categories. Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen, Super Falcons stars Rasheedat Ajibade, Esther Okoronkwo, and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie lead the list of Nigerian hopefuls. Others include Stanley Nwabali, Daniel Bameyi, Shakirat Moshood, Justine Madugu, and Bankole Olowookere.
Osimhen, who has been in fine form for Galatasaray, is among the frontrunners for the CAF African Player of the Year award, alongside Mohamed Salah of Egypt and Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi. The Nigerian striker is looking to reclaim the crown he first won in 2023.
Last year’s winner, Ademola Lookman, did not make this year’s shortlist following a mixed season with Atalanta.
In the women’s category, Rasheedat Ajibade and Esther Okoronkwo are strong contenders for the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award, while Chiamaka Nnadozie is aiming for her third consecutive Best Goalkeeper title after another stellar campaign in Europe and with the Super Falcons.
For the men’s Goalkeeper of the Year, Nigeria’s Stanley Nwabali is among the leading candidates after his impressive performances for both club and country.
The Young Player of the Year category also features Daniel Bameyi and Shakirat Moshood, while Justine Madugu and Bankole Olowookere are nominated for Women’s Coach of the Year.
The 2025 CAF Awards will also recognise the best national teams and clubs on the continent, rounding off a year that has highlighted Africa’s growing football excellence.
