CAF unveils final shortlist for 2024 player of the year award

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the top three finalists for the 2024 CAF Player of the Year award, recognising their impressive performances during the 2023/2024 season.

Two Nigerian stars, Ademola Lookman and Victor Boniface, made the shortlist, joined by Moroccan player Brahim Diaz.

Lookman, who plays for Atalanta, had an outstanding season, helping the club win the UEFA Europa League and earning the title of Atalanta’s Player of the Year.

Victor Boniface, a key player for Bayer Leverkusen, was also instrumental in securing multiple titles for his team, including the Bundesliga, German Cup, and German Super Cup. He also made valuable contributions to Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

Brahim Diaz of Real Madrid completes the shortlist. The playmaker had a major impact in his team’s success, helping them win La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, and the Spanish Super Cup. His performances were vital for both club and country.

The winner of Africa’s top football award will be revealed at a special ceremony in Marrakesh.
