CAFCC: Bendel Insurance FC forced to first-leg draw by RS Berkane

One of Nigeria’s CAF Confederation Cup representatives Bendel Insurance FC were on Saturday, September 16 forced to a 2-2 draw by RS Berkane.

A resilient RS Berkane team fought back on two occasions to deny Bendel Insurance FC a win in their CAF Confederation Cup first leg clash.

Fans at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City were left heartbroken as Morocco’s RS Berkane cancelled the Benin Arsenal’s lead on two occasions.

It was Imade Osarehkoe who fired Bendel Insurance FC ahead, when he pounced on a loose ball after the Berkane goalkeeper failed to hold Benjamin Taminu’s fierce shot in the 28th minute.

RS Berkane cancelled that lead ten minutes later through Hamza El Moussaoui to ensure a 1-1 halftime score.

Coach Monday Odigie tutored Bendel Insurance FC pressed hard and duely regained the lead through Vincent Augustus in the 65th minute.

RS Berkane however fought back again to level scores through Mohamed El Morabit.

At the expiration of regulation time, it finished Bendel Insurance FC 2-2 RS Berkane.

Nigeria’s Bendel Insurance FC will travel to Morocco for the return leg in a fortnight.

That match will take place at the Berkane Municipal Stadium with the aggregate winner proceeding to the group stage of this seasons CAF Confederation Cup.
