Calvin Bassey close to Fulham move
Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey is reportedly close to a move from Ajax Amsterdam to English Premier League side Fulham Football Club.
According to reputable transfer market expert, David Ornstein of The Athletic, Calvin Bassey’s club Ajax have an agreement with Fulham FC per the transfer fee for the defender.
The report also states that the deal is now subject to personal terms agreement between Fulham FC and Bassey and the mandatory medical tests in London.
Ornstein wrote on Saturday July 22, 2023 ; ” Fulham reach agreement with Ajax for center-back Calvin Bassey. Club-to-club deal now in place for fee in region of €21m + sell-on. Meanwhile, the versatile Nigerian defender is still taking part in pre-season activities with Ajax whom he joined from Scottish club Glasgow Rangers last summer.
After a turbulent first season with the Dutch Eredivise giants, it looks like a transfer is inevitable and best for both parties, reason the club has accepted Fulham’s offer.
Earlier this summer, another English Premier league club Brighton and Hove Albion considered a move for Calvin Bassey following stalled negotiation with Chelsea FC for English defender Levi Colwill. Nothing concrete emerged and so Fulham have emerged the likely destination for the 23-year old.
