Calvin Bassey gives Fulham FC massive injury boost ahead of Sheffield United clash

Fulham’s preparations for their upcoming clash against Sheffield United have been given a significant boost as Calvin Bassey’s injury appears to be less severe than initially feared.

The 24-year-old Nigerian defender, who recently made the switch from Rangers to Fulham, was sidelined due to injury during Nigeria’s recent matches against Ghana and Mali. Bassey returned to London for further assessment after sustaining the injury while on duty with the Super Eagles in Morocco.

Initially, concerns arose regarding the seriousness of Bassey’s injury, raising worries about a prolonged absence from the pitch.

However, according to The Standard UK, subsequent evaluations have indicated that the injury is not as grave as initially anticipated. Bassey is expected to undergo additional recovery measures and is poised to regain full fitness in time for Fulham’s imminent showdown against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Bassey’s absence was notable during Nigeria’s matches, as his injury prevented him from contributing on the field.

Alongside Brentford’s Frank Onyeka, Bassey departed from the Super Eagles camp ahead of their clash with Mali, with Onyeka citing personal reasons for his exit.

Previously, Bassey featured for the full duration in Fulham’s triumph over Tottenham Hotspur, where they secured a convincing victory courtesy of goals from Rodrigo Muniz and Sasa Lukic.

With just nine league fixtures remaining in the season, Fulham presently occupies the 12th position in the Premier League standings, trailing Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea by a single point.

A strong conclusion to the campaign could potentially propel Fulham into contention for a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
