Carboni scores late winner as Inter Milan beat Urawa 2-1

Valentin Carboni scored a last-minute goal to give Inter Milan a 2-1 win over Urawa Red Diamonds at the Club World Cup on Saturday. The result means the Japanese team can no longer move on to the next round.

Inter Milan had most of the ball during the match but struggled to score. That changed in the 78th minute when Lautaro Martinez scored a brilliant bicycle kick from a corner taken by Nicolo Barella.

Carboni then scored the winning goal in the second minute of added time, with fellow substitute Francesco Esposito setting him up.

Urawa had taken an early lead in the 11th minute. Takuro Kaneko made a good run and passed the ball back to Ryoma Watanabe, who was unmarked in the box and calmly scored.

Urawa had one last chance to equalise right at the end, but Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer made an important save, tipping a free kick over the bar.

With this win, Inter Milan go top of Group E. They had drawn their first match, but now have a win to build on. Their next game is against River Plate from Argentina on Wednesday.

Urawa will face CF Monterrey, but they are now out of the tournament and will only be playing for pride.
