Coco Gauff Says Age Is Still on Her Side
Coco Gauff believes one of her biggest advantages is still her age.
After battling past Claire Liu 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-2 to reach the fourth round at Wimbledon, the 22-year-old was asked how she plans to recover before facing Belinda Bencic.
The 22-year-old laughed as she explained that recovery is not something she has to think too much about just yet.
“Just probably an ice bath or something. I don’t know. I’m still young.”
Gauff admitted she doesn’t have an elaborate recovery routine because her body still responds well after long matches.
“I honestly don’t really wake up sore the next day after a match. Maybe a couple years from now I’ll have a more thorough plan.”
Her light-hearted response came after a demanding contest in which she let three match points slip away in the second set before regaining control to win the decider.
The victory sent Gauff into the fourth round at Wimbledon for the fourth time in her career and marked her 29th win of the 2026 season.
She will now take on Belinda Bencic with a place in the quarter-finals at stake.
For now, though, Gauff is happy to enjoy one advantage that won’t last forever: being young enough to recover quickly after tough matches.
