Costa quits Atleti, set for January move

Spanish striker, Diego Costa, agreed to mutually terminate his contract with Atletico Madrid after 3 seasons at the Wanda Metropolitano due to family reasons, and did not resume following the Christmas break. The Spaniard joined Atletico Madrid from Chelsea in 2017 after falling out with then Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, for his second spell at the club.

Costa, who scored 83 goals in 215 appearances for Atletico Madrid over two spells saw his place on the team taken by new signing and former Barcelona talisman, Luis Suarez, who has scored 8 goals already this season.

The Spaniard has been linked with a move back to the Premier League with Wolves, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur being touted as his possible destinations, and a move to Barcelona has also been mentioned as one of the possibilities.
