Crawley Town sign Nigerian defender Benjamin Tanimu on permanent deal
English League One club Crawley Town have completed the signing of Nigerian defender Benjamin Tanimu from Tanzanian Premier League side Singida Black Stars. The Red Devils secured the 22-year-old’s services for a transfer fee of $850,000.
Tanimu has signed a two-year contract with Crawley Town, with an option to extend for an additional year. The former Bendel Insurance player, who has been capped three times by Nigeria, is expected to bolster the club’s defensive line.
Singida Black Stars confirmed the transfer on Friday, stating, “Our club has entered into an agreement with Crawley Town FC, a UK club participating in League One, to sell our Nigerian player Benjamin Tanimu. The agreement includes a direct transfer fee and a 20% sell-on clause, with the total package estimated at no less than $850,000.”
Tanimu’s move to Crawley Town marks a significant step in his career as he makes the transition from the Tanzanian Premier League to English football.
