Cristiano Ronaldo wishes Manchester United success despite controversial exit

Cristiano Ronaldo has reiterated his unwavering affection for Manchester United, despite parting ways with the club under challenging circumstances.

The 39-year-old football icon, widely regarded as one of the greatest players to have worn the Red Devils’ jersey, expressed his love for the club and his hope for their future success.

In an interview, Ronaldo made it clear that his bond with Manchester United remains strong: “I repeat that I still love Manchester United. I wish Manchester United all the best,” he said, according to football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

This sentiment comes despite a difficult end to his second spell at the club, which saw his contract terminated following a controversial interview.

Ronaldo’s two spells at Manchester United were marked by contrasting fortunes. In his first tenure, as a young prodigy, he enjoyed immense success, helping the club win nine major trophies, including the UEFA Champions League and three Premier League titles. He also earned the prestigious Ballon d’Or award during this period, highlighting his status as the best player in the world.

However, his second stint at Old Trafford, which lasted just over a season, did not bring the same level of personal or collective success.

Tensions between Ronaldo and the club’s management surfaced, culminating in a high-profile interview where he criticized the club’s administration, coaches, and some teammates. This ultimately led to his contract being terminated, marking an abrupt and bitter end to his time with Manchester United.

During his final months at the club, Ronaldo also fell out with Manchester United’s current manager, Erik Ten Hag. The strained relationship between the two further complicated Ronaldo’s position at the club, contributing to the tensions that led to his departure.

Despite the challenges at Manchester United, Ronaldo continues to demonstrate his class on the international stage. He recently scored in a second consecutive match for Portugal, helping his national team secure victory over Scotland and propel them to the top of their Nations League group standings.
