Deadline Day: Injury takes Wilfred Ndidi out completely

There is no doubt that Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is one of the best in his position in the world.

Wilfred Ndidi has grown from being the best in Africa or Premier League to one of the best in the world.

The 23-year-old started this season playing as a central defender as a cover for short-handed Leicester City.

He showed his versatility helping his side to a great start to the season before he was knocked down by an injury.

Wilfred Ndidi eased into Leicester City defence like a natural central defender doing perfectly all that is expected of a defender and then the injury.

The Nigerian was linked to various top clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Arsenal at a point.

While it is unclear if Leicester would be willing to cash in on one of their untouchables, we know every player is available at the right price.

His impact on the team always visible to fans and neutrals, in fact, his manager, Brendan Rodgers confirmed that the player would be missed when he got injured last month.

“He will be out for up to 12 weeks, we think,” said Brendan Rodgers.

“He felt some pain and there is no doubt he will be a miss for us.

“I’m sure he’ll make a really good recovery and we’ll welcome him back when he comes back.”

With just few hours left to the closing of the 2020 summer transfer it is disheartening to see Wilfred Ndidi is not even considered by top clubs looking to fill his position.

Arsenal have been on the heels of Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey and are unwilling to match his release clause.

United reportedly looking to sign a defensive midfielder and Chelsea also looking to find a combative midfielder.

While Chelsea prefer a move West Ham’s Declan Rice they are also pushing to get Thomas Partey who is a cheaper option.

This could have been Wilfred Ndidi who is by far the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League but his abductor injury has done him dirty.

At 23, there would still be many more transfer windows for the former Genk star but this is season, he obviously missed out on a summer transfer to a big club no thanks to his injury.

Hope he comes back firing from all cylinders.
