Demirspor’s Onyekuru Ends 9-Game Goal Drought with Winner Against Kayserispor

Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru put an end to his 9-game goal drought by scoring the winning goal in Adana Demirspor’s 5-3 victory against Kayserispor during a Turkish Super Lig match held at the Yeni Adana Stadyumu on Sunday.

Since his brace against Istanbulspor on January 5th, 2023, Henry Onyekuru had played in 9 games for Adana Demirspor without finding the back of the net.

Against Kayserispor, when the stakes were high, he stepped up to score from the spot kick to give the home side a 5-3 lead against Kayserispor on Sunday.

Seven out of the eight goals scored in this game were scored in the first half of the game.

Senegal’s Cherif Ndiaye opened the scoring for Adana Demirspor in the 7th minute of the game, but his compatriot Mame Thiam equalized for the visitors 17th minute later.

Cherif Ndiaye scored again to register his brace in the 27th minute of the game, and again Mame Thiam pulled back the second time with his 30th-minute strike.

Two minutes after Kayserispor got their equalizer, Younes Belhanda scored to restore Demirspor’s lead, and for the third time in the game, Mame Thiam scored for the visitors.

Mame Thiam completed his hat-trick in the 45+4 minute but Yusuf Sari scored two minutes later to restore Adana Demirspor’s 1-goal lead going into the break.

Six minutes into the second half, Henry Onyekuru scored from the spot kick to hand Adana Demirspor their fifth goal and a two-goal cushion against a tough Kayserispor.

In 25 league games this season, Henry Onyekuru has scored 7 and assisted 1 for the 4th-placed Adana Demirspor.
