Djokovic and Sinner Cruise Into Fourth Round as Krejcikova Crashes Out at Wimbledon
Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner both moved into the fourth round at Wimbledon with dominant wins on Saturday, while defending champion Barbora Krejcikova was knocked out in a shock result.
Djokovic Reaches 100 Wins at Wimbledon
Novak Djokovic showed his class once again as he beat fellow Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 in just under two hours. The win was his 100th victory at Wimbledon, putting him alongside tennis legends Martina Navratilova and Roger Federer.
The 38-year-old seven-time Wimbledon champion looked sharp from the start, finishing rallies with powerful groundstrokes and clever net play. One standout moment came late in the first set when Djokovic won a thrilling exchange with a diving backhand volley, bringing the Centre Court crowd to its feet.
He raced through the second set, not dropping a single game, and despite a late push from Kecmanovic in the third, Djokovic stayed calm and served out the match.
He now faces Alex de Minaur in the next round, after the Australian beat August Holmgren in straight sets.
Sinner Powers Past Martinez
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner also continued his strong form, beating Spain’s Pedro Martinez 6-1, 6-3, 6-1. Sinner dominated from the start, hitting 46 winners and dropping just seven games in total.
Martinez had a small chance in the second set but failed to take his break points. Sinner took full control after that, never letting his opponent back into the match.
The Italian now meets Grigor Dimitrov, who also won in straight sets.
Swiatek Shines, Krejcikova Sent Home
Iga Swiatek stayed on course for her first Wimbledon title with a solid 6-2, 6-3 win over Danielle Collins. The Polish star, seeded eighth, played confidently and made very few errors, controlling the match from the baseline.
After the match, Swiatek said: “I was in the zone. I played fast and took control early. It’s the best I’ve felt on grass so far.”
But there was heartbreak for defending champion Barbora Krejcikova, who lost 6-2, 3-6, 4-6 to American Emma Navarro. Krejcikova looked uncomfortable throughout the third set and had to be checked by medical staff. At one point, she was seen in tears at the back of the court.
Despite holding five break points, she couldn’t take them and was broken in her final service game. Navarro now plays Mirra Andreeva, who beat Hailey Baptiste 6-1, 6-3.
What’s Next
With Djokovic, Sinner, and Swiatek all into the fourth round, the second week of Wimbledon promises more excitement. But for Krejcikova, her title defence is over in emotional fashion.
