D’Tigress cruise to an easy 106-33 win over Guinea at #AfrobasketWomen2017

The Nigeria women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress, were more than a ruler taller than their opponents from Guinea as they practically chased them out of the court to secure a 106-33 on Tuesday at the City Arena in Bamako Mali the venue of the 2017 FIBA Afro Basket Women championship.

Already qualified for the quarterfinals but D’Tigress came out firing on all cylinders from the jump ball against the Guinea women’s national basketball team as they continued their 100% record as they pursue their dreams of winning the Afro Basket title 12 years after they last won it.

Once again WNBA third round overall pick in the 2017 draft Evelyn Akhator shone like a billion stars as she recorded yet again another double figure points as Nigeria cruised on in Bamako on Tuesday.

She played for just 19 minutes and within that period she had done enough to help Nigeria wreck a serious damage on their opponents.

Nigeria went into the break with a point difference of 24 having scored outscored their Guinean opponents by 48-12. The third and fourth quarters were not different from the first-two quarters despite coach Sam Vincent resting his starters to give playing times to his role players who duly delivered by making 46 more points in the last two-quarters against Guinea’s 17 to ensure a ruthless 106-33 win on Tuesday.

Four Nigerians ended with a double-digit figure; Evelyn Akhator 24 points, Sarah Ogoke (13), Nkechi Akashili (12) Adaora Elonu (11). While Akhator led the team in scoring, she had same rebound 7 as Ndidi Madu although all of Madu’s were defensive Akhator had 5 offensives and 2 defensives.

D’Tigress have now won all their four games with increasing margins 80-69 Mozambique, 84-47 DR Congo, 106-72 Egypt and 106-33 against Mozambique.

Nigeria will play their last game group game on Wednesday against 12-time champions Senegal by 9:45 pm.
