Egyptian Pharaohs land In Lions Den

Dare Indomitable Lions of Cameroon for place in the Final

The Paul Biya stadium in Yaounde will by 8 pm today stage a titanic second Semi-Final of the 2021 AFCON as The Pharaohs of Egypt dare The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in their Den for a place in Sundays final vs Senegal.

The Indomitable Lions heavily backed by the home support and motivated by their impressive form at this year’s AFCON will have to be at their best against an Egyptian side who on paper represents their biggest test yet.

On their way to the Semi-Final, the Indomitable Lions defeated Burkina Faso and Ethiopia plus a draw vs Cape Verde to top Group A with 7points. In the Round of 16, the Indomitable Lions knocked out Comoros before stalling the hopes of the Stallions of Gambia.

For the Egyptians, the path to this stage has not been rosy. A defeat to Nigeria in the first of three group stage matches now feels like a blessing as the Egyptians reaped the lessons to overcome Guinea Bissau and Sudan to qualify for the last 16.

Ivory Coast and Morocco bowed to the Pharaohs in the last 16 and quarter-final stage to set up today’s Semi-Final vs hosts Cameroon.

With just four goals at this years AFCON,  Egypt will look up to Salah and Co to match the fire power of the Cameroonians who have scored 11 goals shared between Vincent Aboubakar (6) and Toko Ekambi (5) if they must survive the heat in the Den of Lions today.

Ahead of the Match, Egypt will be without their first and second choice goalkeepers El-Shenawy and Gabaski plus long-term absentees Akram Tawfik and Hamdi Fathi while the Cameroonians have the luxury of a fully fit squad.

The winner of today’s match will take on Senegal. The kickoff is 8 pm.
