EXPLAINED: Will CAF headquaters be relocated from Cairo

There has been reports that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will be relocating its headquaters from Cairo, Egypt. Here is an explanation per findings by SportsRation.

The African soccer governing body, CAF, has debunked rumors that it is making efforts to relocate its headquarters from Cairo to Rabat in Morocco.

For several years, there have been reports of a possible relocation to Morocco, particularly to Rabat where sites had even been proposed under the presidency of Ahmad Ahmad.

However, after signing a 10-year agreement in 2020 concerning the hosting of the CAF headquarters in Cairo, the organization will continue its activities there.

Egypt has granted CAF around 20 hectares of land to build a new, larger, and more functional headquarters to accommodate several of its services.

CAF will move its headquarters within Cairo, establishing its future district in the new Egyptian administrative capital, the city of October 6. Located in the governorate of Giza, this new location is approximately thirty kilometers from central Cairo.

The governing body remains committed to its base in Egypt, ensuring stability and continuity for its operations.
