Ezi Magbegor stars as Australia beat Türkiye 87-71 at FIBA World Cup
Ezi Magbegor delivered a standout performance as Australia defeated Türkiye 87-71 to secure a second straight win at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin.
Magbegor led the Opals with 21 points, helping Australia recover after Türkiye briefly took the lead in the opening quarter. Australia finished the first period ahead 21-15 and never surrendered the advantage again.
Türkiye got 24 points from Sevgi Uzun, but Australia’s physicality proved decisive as the Opals pulled away to claim their second victory of the tournament.
The result also guarantees Australia a place in the Final Phase. The Opals will face European champions Belgium next, in a game that could determine which team advances directly to the quarter-finals as group winner.
