The 2022 Akwa Ibom state Grassroots League week Six matches have been concluded. Sportsration correspondent Nsikakabasi Akpan presents a Summary of the week and permutations as the league enters the final week of the preliminary round.
With one week left to the end of the preliminary round, three teams have already booked thier place in the next round.
Fullife Football Academy, Eagles Eyes Academy and Jimbo International Fc all sealed their places in the next round with today. All three teams are from the Uyo Zone which has one pending slot that will be taken by either Ikoya Fc or Edak Fc.
Qualification for the Super Eight playoffs will go down to the wire in the Onna Zone. Krane Fc sit top of the standings with 13 points but with 10points in the bag for 5th placed Barracks Fc, nothing is sealed.
Blessed Stars and Oxygen Fc are tied on 12 points in 2nd and 3rd place respectively and will qualify for the Super Eight playoffs if (I) They get at least a point in week Seven and Barracks Fc fail to win with at least a 7 goal margin. (2) If they lose and Barracks Fc fail to win as well.
A 2-1 loss to Oxygen Fc leaves Unity Fc in 4th place. With just a point separating them from bouncing Barracks Fc , Unity Fc will push for a win clash vs Scorpion Fc in week Seven to seal their place in the Super Eight playoffs.
5th placed Barracks Fc’s 3-0 win over Cheetah Fc leaves them with a chance of sneaking into the top four. First they must win over Josima Fc and pray other results go in their favour if they must join the big boys in the next round.
