Galatasaray expresses Interest in Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen

Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray have reportedly expressed a strong interest in acquiring the services of Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen.

According to multiple sources, the Turkish club have made a formal approach to Napoli, seeking to secure Osimhen on a one-year loan deal, an offer Napoli have accepted.

This development follows a weekend of intense speculation surrounding Osimhen’s future, as the Nigerian international was at the center of transfer rumors, with multiple clubs across Europe showing interest. Despite the buzz, no move materialized, leaving Osimhen to remain with the Italian Serie A side, Napoli.

However, Galatasaray’s latest approach could potentially offer Osimhen a new challenge in Turkey. The Turkish club is reported to have offered to cover the entirety of Osimhen’s annual salary, amounting to €11 million, as part of their proposal to Napoli. This significant financial commitment shows Galatasaray’s determination to land the prolific striker, who has been a standout performer in European football.

Osimhen, who has earned widespread acclaim for his performances in Serie A, is currently expected to report to the Super Eagles camp today ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda, scheduled for September 7 and 10, respectively.

With the AFCON qualifiers just days away, it remains uncertain whether Victor Osimhen will be fully focused on national team duties or if the ongoing transfer negotiations will influence his participation. As the situation unfolds, both Napoli and Galatasaray fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on the potential move, which could see one of Africa’s top footballers make a switch to the Turkish league.
