Gbenga Ogunbote: 3SC will be the team to beat in few weeks

Despite a winless display at the ValueJet Pre-season tournament that ended with a 3-1 loss to Remo Stars , Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote, is optimistic the team will be the team to beat in few weeks time

Ogunbote joined the Oluyole Warriors’ few weeks ago and took charge of the team to the maiden edition of the Value Jet Pre Season Tournament being staged at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.

The “Oracle” as Ogunbote is fondly called, played down the results from his team at the ValueJet Cup , stressing it was a test run for the task ahead and has achieved it’s objective to some extent .

Ogunbote made this comments while addressing the 3SC media crew immediately after the Ibadan soccer lords lost three and drew one, scored once and conceded five to exit the tournament at the group stage on Monday night .

He said “I see this tournament as a test run. We were able to test both the players retained and the new ones invited and I can tell you that we have been able to achieve our aim to some extent.

3SC Players at the ValueJet Pre-season tournament.

“I am not worried by what we got here considering the fact that we featured players who had not played together and whose fitness is at the zero level. We only had just two days training before the tournament started.

“Now that we are done with this tourney, I can tell you that we are going to start the real business in terms of training and in few weeks time, I can assure you that this team will be different and it will be the team to beat”, the former Sunshine Stars sweat merchant assured.

On his plans for the ongoing NPFL Transfer window, Ogunbote said he will still be activively involved, stressing that he will still be on the look out for quality additions to the team.

A 1-3 loss to South West rivals Remo Stars Sports Club ensured Ogunbote and his 3SC charges bowed out of the tournament with a single point in a group that included the likes of Vandrezzer FC , Plateau United , Ijebu United and yesterday’s conquerors Remo Stars.

Ogunbote in his post match interview (vs Remo Stars) gave his boys a pat in the back for a well fought battle, stating that they did their best in the encounter, despite playing against a team that was physically strong, using their fitness to their advantage.

Gbenga Ogunbote replaced Edith Ogoye as Technical Adviser of 3SC . The Oracle arrived the Oluyole Warriors’ to heighten the expectations of the fans who want a replication of his magical 3rd place finish with Remo Stars Sports Club in the 2021/2022 season .
