Good News for Terem Moffi: Nigerian Striker Returns to Training After Long Injury Layoff

OGC Nice forward Terem Moffi has returned to first-team training, marking a big step in his recovery from a serious knee injury. The Nigerian striker had been out for 247 days after suffering an ACL rupture during pre-season.

Moffi, 25, has missed the entire 2024/25 Ligue 1 season so far, but his return to the pitch on Wednesday was a welcome sight for fans. He joined his teammates in a training session open to the public, completing warm-ups and passing drills before working individually with a club staff member.

Around 200 supporters watched as the Super Eagles star gradually eased back into training. While Nice’s medical team will take a cautious approach, this progress suggests Moffi could be back in action in the coming months.

The striker last played for Nice on 19 May 2024, in a 2-2 draw against Lille, and his last appearance for Nigeria came in a World Cup qualifier against Benin Republic on 10 June. His initial return was planned for pre-season, but the ACL injury delayed his comeback by over eight months.

Moffi was a key player for Nice last season, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists in 30 Ligue 1 matches. Since joining from Lorient in 2023, he has been one of the club’s most reliable goal scorers.

Nice’s next Ligue 1 match is against Le Havre on 16 February. While Moffi is unlikely to feature, his return to training is a huge boost for both Nice and the Super Eagles. The club will ensure he regains full fitness before making his long-awaited comeback on the pitch.
