Goodnews for Kelechi Iheanacho at Sevilla ahead of La Liga week two

There is good news for Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho. Spanish club Sevilla have officially registered Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho for the ongoing La Liga season.

After joining Sevilla this summer on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Leicester City, Iheanacho made his debut for the club in a 4-1 loss to Liverpool two weeks ago.

However, Iheanacho was unable to participate in Sevilla’s opening La Liga match against Las Palmas last week due to the club’s failure to register him, a consequence of La Liga’s stringent financial regulations. This situation was resolved following the departure of Argentine defender Marcos Acuña to River Plate, which allowed Sevilla to meet the league’s financial requirements and complete Iheanacho’s registration.

With his registration now confirmed, Spanish journalist Gonzalo Tortosa has reported that Iheanacho is available for selection for Sevilla’s upcoming match against Villarreal at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on Friday. Although Iheanacho may not start the match, with Isaac Romero likely to lead the line again, his availability is a significant boost for the team.

Sevilla will be looking to secure their first win of the season against Villarreal, a team they have defeated in three of their last five meetings at home.
