Haaland’s Late Penalty Gives Manchester City Dramatic Comeback Win at Anfield

Erling Haaland scored a late penalty in the 93rd minute as Manchester City completed a stunning comeback to beat Liverpool and keep the Premier League title race alive.
The win reduced Arsenal’s lead at the top of the table to six points with 13 matches still to play, giving City fresh hope in the title chase.
Liverpool had taken the lead in the 74th minute through Dominik Szoboszlai, who scored a brilliant free-kick from long range. The shot flew past City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and left him with no chance.
City pushed hard for an equaliser and got it in the 84th minute when Bernardo Silva found the net. With the match heading for a draw, City kept attacking in search of a winner.
In added time, Matheus Nunes was fouled inside the box by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, and the referee awarded a penalty. Haaland calmly converted the spot-kick to score his 21st league goal of the season and spark wild celebrations among the City supporters.
Donnarumma later made a superb save to stop Alexis Mac Allister, while Rayan Cherki had a long-range goal ruled out after a VAR check. Szoboszlai was also sent off for a foul on Haaland in the build-up.
The victory was City’s first league win at Anfield with fans in the stadium since 2003 and only their third league win there in 23 meetings. It was also a rare double over Liverpool in the league this season.
City controlled much of the game but struggled to take their chances in the first half. Liverpool improved after the break, but City showed great character to turn the match around and secure a memorable win.
