Heartbreak for Ulsan as Late Goals Seal Fluminense Victory in Club World Cup

Ulsan HD suffered a heartbreaking 4-2 defeat against Brazilian side Fluminense in a thrilling Group F match on Saturday evening.

Despite showing great spirit to take the lead by half-time, Ulsan were left stunned by two late goals that ended their hopes in the FIFA Club World Cup. The South Korean side is now out of the tournament, having lost both of their group matches.

The game began with Fluminense on top, and they took the lead through John Arias’ powerful free kick in the 27th minute. But Ulsan responded bravely. Lee Jinhyun levelled the score in the 37th minute after a brilliant counter-attack, finishing calmly into an open goal. Just before half-time, Um Won-Sang headed in Lee’s cross to give Ulsan a 2-1 lead at the break.

Their dream, however, began to slip away in the second half.

Fluminense equalised in the 66th minute when Nonato scored from just inside the box after a poor clearance. Then heartbreak struck for Ulsan. In the 83rd minute, Freytes scored his first goal for Fluminense, calmly finishing after a clever pass from German Cano. Just nine minutes later, Keno sealed the result with a header, as Ulsan’s tired defence struggled to cope.

Ulsan fought hard, showing moments of real quality, but it wasn’t enough. The late goals from Fluminense ended their journey in the competition, leaving players and fans alike devastated.
